Atmospheric effects on GPS-based aircraft navigation
The Federal Aviation Administration's Wide Area Augmentation System is the modern, GPS-based aircraft en route and approach navigation service. Because users rely on corrections from WAAS to their GPS positions in real-time, WAAS monitors for real-time behavior in the upper atmosphere. Space weather can affect the availability and precision level of service WAAS offers.
